IAIN Langsas FEBI Holds Hoax-Sensing National School for Beginner Voters
FEBI IAIN Langsa organizes community service in the form of a National School Tular Nalar (Sensing) program for novice voter students as Hoax Sensors for Elections, Langsa 08 November 2023. This school program was made possible by the collaboration of FEBI IAIN Langsa with the Indonesian Anti Fitnah Society (MAFINDO) in collaboration with Love Frankie with the international support of Google.org. The purpose and target of this event are students as novice voters in order as a young generation for Hoax sensing for elections.
Remarks from the Dean of IAIN Langsa's Faculty of FEBI, in this case represented by Dr. Zubir, MA, as the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation as well as the PIC of the National School Program. Dr. Zubir, MA, said that the Nationality School aims to teach education about hoaxes for novice voters, namely by Hoax Sensing for Elections. This education also teaches about political education for a better future of the nation. Young people become voters who will ensure how the nation in the future. Anti-Hoax education, through the National School provides knowledge about the truth of information precisely, right, doubtful and wrong. Dr. Zubir, MA, advised "beginner voters, as students, should not be influenced by information that is not necessarily true and we also expect how political practices can be carried out properly," he said.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (KIP) of Langsa City, in this case represented by Bahtiar Husein, MA, as the Coordinator of the Legal and Supervisory Division of KIP Langsa expressed his gratitude to FEBI for organizing this Nationality School. This is very helpful for KIP Langsa in providing political education for novice voters in welcoming the February 2024 elections. According to Bahtiar Husein, preparing the Alpha generation to ward off Hoaxes is a very good step for today's young generation. A fake news product, if it is not in the form of news, is not called a hoax. The fake news must be in the form of news from various media. If the perpetrators of spreading Hoax news are found, the punishment for the perpetrators will apply. Bahtiar advised students as the Alpha generation (a generation born with so much familiarity with the digital world) not to be enslaved by technology and not to be provoked by false information.
The Rector of IAIN Langsa, on this occasion represented by Prof. Dr. Iskandar, MCL, was present to give a speech as well as open the National School event. On behalf of the Chancellor of IAIN Langsa, we welcome the School of Nationality as Hoax Sensing for Elections conducted by Febi today. Prof. Dr. Iskandar, MCL, hopes that with this anti-Hoax education, novice voters, especially early semester students, can filter and sort out which information is true and which is still doubtful and even untrue. "Congratulations on running this program and hopefully it will be useful for all students," he said.
