Dr. Jasni Bin Sulong, Dean of the Faculty of (USM) PPIK Malaysia and one of the International Speakers explained via zoom meeting that Debt can create chaos in the household. Debt is actually prohibited by sharia. Debt in Islam is permissible, but provide collateral and pay off and provide relief to people who owe. Making things easier for those in debt is the way of Islam and Allah loves that. "Give relief to those in debt" he said. Why online payday loans are not allowed, because the system is not clear and the method practiced is not in accordance with sharia and is even very detrimental to the debtor. Sharia does not recommend people who are in debt for unclear interests such as hoarding wealth and enriching themselves both. Debt just to live and to eat is permissible, but oppressing yourself and even passing it on to your children and grandchildren is not right in Islamic Sharia and must be avoided.
The next speaker was Dr. Murniati Mukhlisin, M.Acc., CFP, IFP, AEPP, Sharia literacy activist and founder of Sakinah Finance. She explained that a good loan is a sharia-based loan. Avoid online loans because this can cause losses to the borrower. Capital loans can be made online but it is necessary to pay attention to the prospects of the business we are doing. "Borrowing is allowed but in accordance with sharia and business-based loans" he added.
T.M. Andika Putra, Head of Bank Aceh Langsa Branch, on this occasion emphasized that we should avoid online loans that are not registered with the OJK. Online loans have the risk of high interest rates, high fines, terrorizing borrowers, unethical collection and no negotiation. In essence, avoid pinjol because we do not recommend it and access banking-based financial services. The banking sector will help customers and provide solutions for loans for customer needs with sharia-based.
